Every guide on this site is built from official sources, checked figure by figure and reviewed by Linda Bale before it goes live. The figures below are counted from the site itself.
How a guide gets made
Find the questions people ask
We start from what people search before a move to Plano: keyword research across the whole topic, then the pages that rank and the questions Google shows for every page we write.
Go to the original source
Tax rates come from each taxing unit's adopted rates, exemptions from the Texas Tax Code, the Texas Comptroller and the appraisal district, home values from Zillow's Home Value Index, mortgage rates from Freddie Mac, school information from each district, and crime figures from Plano Police and the FBI.
How we use AI
We use AI-assisted research tools to find, read, extract and cross-check sources, because they let us check far more documents than research by hand could. AI does not decide what we publish: every figure traces to a source listed on its page, and a figure we can't confirm is left out.
Check every figure
Each number is checked against its source before a page goes live. Examples from this site's first review: a comparison page said Richardson was the only suburb whose typical value rose, when Southlake rose too; a registration page quoted an electric vehicle fee that the Texas DMV doesn't publish in that form; and several neighborhood details that appeared only in search results, not on a page we could open, were cut or turned into questions to ask the HOA.
Linda's review
Linda Bale reviews every page before it goes live. Each guide shows the date she last reviewed it.
The standards we hold to
We describe places by their homes, prices, taxes and amenities, never by who lives there, as the Fair Housing Act requires. For schools we name the district and link its own school lookup, rather than tying a home to a school. Safety pages use official data and explain the method, without a safe or unsafe verdict. Figures are dated, and nothing on this site is tax or legal advice.
See it in practice in the Plano property tax guide, the Plano schools guide and the Plano safety guide.
Keeping pages current
Tax rates and exemptions are rechecked when the taxing units adopt new rates each fall; Zillow market figures are refreshed when Zillow publishes new monthly data. Each page shows the date Linda last reviewed it.
